The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai is a National Institute of higher learning which fosters high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of Mathematical Sciences. IMSc is home to a growing community with scientists working on Complex systems, Computer Modelling and Analysis of Economic / Financial Date & Networks, particle physics and other interdisciplinary fields besides a wonderful library with a collection of over 67,000 catalogued volumes [books and back volumes], more than 3500 + online journals, and a host of electronic resources accessible. This campus is located in the verdant surroundings of the CIT Campus in Taramani and contains academic buildings, a 190 seater auditorium, a library, computer centre and audio-visual room, students hostels, a well-equipped gymnasium, indoor badminton table tennis and tennis court as well as a guest house for academic visitors. IMSc is funded largely by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), with additional contributions from the government of Tamil Nadu. Applications are invited for filling up of the following project position from the eligible candidates who fulfill requisite qualifications/ specifications mentioned therein. The position indicated under the respective on-going project is proposed to be filled purely on contract basis on consolidated salary for a period of six months only and there is no scope of continuation/ regularization/ absorption under any circumstances.

Project Assistant	1	Already obtained Ph.D. degree in Mathematics very recently, or submitted Ph.D. thesis in Mathematics (and waiting for the degree), or going to submit Ph.D. thesis very soon, with a strong background in Lie Groups, Algebraic Groups and in the topology of their homogeneous spaces. The candidate should have commendable knowledge on the centralizers of nilpotent elements in semisimple Lie algebras. The candidate should also have the familiarity with AMSTex or Latex.	Rs. 28000/- p.m. + HRA@30% on Consolidated Salary.
